JENSEN equips leading Italian laundry with the latest technology

The Italian Servizi Italia S.p.A. Group has decided to build a central reference plant as a benchmark for their network of heavy duty laundries in Italy, and has chosen JENSEN-GROUP to supply the technology.

Located in Castellina di Soragna (Parma) in Northern Italy, Servizi Italia S.p.A. is the leading company in the field of integrated services for renting, washing and sterilizing linen and surgical instruments for hospitals in Italy. The company is listed in the STAR sector (segment for high requirement shares) of the Italian stock exchange. In order to ensure that the services provided are in compliance with the requirements of the customers, Servizi Italia S.P.A. operates a highly advanced, state-of-the-art manufacturing network throughout the country, which consists of 11 industrial laundries, 7 linen sterilization centers, 11 surgical installations sterilization centers and 110 wardrobes located in hospitals.

Based on this concept and the partnership approach fostered by the JENSEN-GROUP, the idea came up to create a reference center - an exemplary company in terms of production, efficiency and optimization of industrial costs and at the same time respecting the absolute quality of the products: a benchmark in heavy duty laundry. Early 2010, it was decided that this new plant would be located in Bolzaneto, close to Genova.

The new company immediately stormed up at the first rank of Italian industrial laundries and at the first levels in Europe, considering the size and production capacity. The new company is designed on five floors with a total area of 263,716 sq. ft., it is laid out to run 60 tons per day of hospital laundry, which is split in flat linen, clothes and reusable technical fabric garments for sterile operating rooms. The plant consists of 4 continuous batch washers, 2 trolley washers, 5 ironing lines with partially decentralized hanging, a Metricon system for garments sorting with finishing tunnels and folding machines – all handled by a monorail loading system for soiled and clean laundry and managed through the tracking system JENSEN Cockpit.

“This project is a challenging and exciting task for the JENSEN-GROUP and its engineers in the JENSEN technology centers” says Armando Gerosa, JENSEN’s  sales manager at JENSEN’s Italian Sales and Service Center in Novedrate near Como, and he adds: “we are working hard to make sure that the deadline of completion will be met”.

The new installation will be a key reference for both Servizi Italia and for the JENSEN-GROUP, and both parties already look forward to Spring 2011 – the date when the new plant will be fully commissioned and ready to handle a large share of Italian’s hospital linen.
