Katana and KliQ: A new case for the brothers Alexander and Moritz Wildschütz

We call it a knife, the Japanese call it a "katana": A new case for CSI Münster

What Commissioner Thiel and Professor Boerne are to the most successful German crime series “CSI Münster”, the Wildschütz brothers are to the laundry sector in Munster: a well-coordinated team that solves every case – and stain. Almost 20 years ago, the first episode of the TV crime series appeared, appropriately called "The Dark Stain". The Wildschütz brothers also take care of stains in the laundry and their removal on a full-time basis. After part one in 2015 – at the time, the headliner of the machinery was the first JENSEN Senking Universal P60 – five years later, the protagonists of the sequel are called Katana and KliQ. A new case for CSI Münster!

What has happened until now
A lot has happened at the Sicking laundry since 2015. The family-run business from Münster is in its fourth generation and is now being managed by the brothers Moritz and Alexander Wildschütz, the great-grandchildren of the company's founder, Maria Sicking.
The business, which has existed since 1923, is one of the leading laundries in Münster and North Rhine-Westphalia. Moritz Wildschütz explains the history: “In 2008 we had already grown and wanted to continue our healthy expansion. Then last year we bought a new larger and more modern facility near our laundry to expand our state-of-the-art plant. This places us in an optimal position for the future and allows us to continue to offer our customers the absolute highest quality and reliability, using the very latest technology.”
The laundry’s main clients include upper-class hotels, followed by retirement homes and nursing facilities, as well as large industries and small workshops. Qualified employees, state-of-the art technology, and continuous improvements to the product and process offer perfect quality. Raising the curtain for the new Katana!

We call it a knife, the Japanese call it a “katana”
In Münster, the new JENSEN Katana, which was presented at the Clean Show in New Orleans in 2019, has been operating at full speed and to our complete satisfaction since February 2020. Moritz and Alexander Wildschütz – and of course their customers – are impressed by the machine and absolutely delighted with the folding quality.
The legendary Japanese long sword of the samurai was the inspiration for the name of the new JENSEN Katana folder. In contemporary Japanese, the word is also used as a general term for blade. The precisely forged blade, which is swung elegantly by the samurai, applies figuratively to the new folder from JENSEN. At this Münster business, the laundry is also folded with the same pinpoint precision and speed: Just the thing for the Wildschütz brothers and their latest case.
The Katana with five inline stackers and a crossfold station is part of a complete finishing line with an equally new JENSEN KliQ feeder and a JENSEN EXPress ironer. It is a very compact solution that will pay for itself quickly, thanks to the sorting by the stacker, which reduces the labor costs for sorting. This folder takes up far less space than a conventional folder with several stackers arranged on the side. Furthermore, thanks to the speed and simplicity of the system, the laundry can process 350 additional pieces of linen in the existing finishing line every day at no additional cost, based on 1000 pieces per hour in two shifts. The results for hotel and restaurant linen are astonishing.
Easy access to the crossfold section accelerates the removal of possible jams in the crossfold section. Each crossfold conveyor belt has its own frequency-controlled motor with direct-drive technology. This allows folding and stacking parameters to be set individually. All crossfolds are made via reversing belts and a mechanical blade, which guarantees great finishing for light to heavy materials.

The new Katana is a very maintenance-friendly machine that uses common photocells and the same type of motor for crossfold conveyor belts and stackers. As a result, replacing spare parts is child's play. The multiblade technology in the lateral fold section replaces the air blast – thus reducing compressed air consumption by as much as 50%. A much quieter working environment is an additional benefit.

And it (KliQ) clicked
The new KliQ feeder from JENSEN, specially developed for the healthcare, hospitality, and restaurant linen sectors, ensures a high and uniform finishing quality. A transfer beam with a mechanical holding bar replaces the vacuum section. In the receiving position, the holding bar is open while the linen is held between the transfer beam and a fixation tube. During the transfer, the holding bar is closed.
Based on the clamp design of the successful Logic 2000 feeder, the new spreading clamp is a masterpiece of operator convenience and greater productivity.
With the newly designed, super-quick vacuum box, the trailing edge of the linen is pulled into the vacuum box faster, shortening the cycle time. The mechanical holding bar of the KliQ feeder ensures high and uniform feeding quality and reduces the maintenance requirements over time, as it works without vacuum suction.

The second case is solved – thanks to Katana and KliQ
With their visionary growth strategy, the Wildschütz brothers have again demonstrated that they can really solve any problem. They are supported in this effort by their new headliners, Katana and KliQ. JENSEN Sales Manager Matthias Schrader is in close contact with the laundry and emphasizes the particularly cooperative partnership: “We at JENSEN are happy every time we are called to Münster and can work together on a new project – or a new case.” We look forward to the next case from CSI Münster!
