Each large or complex project is a one-of-a-kind solution: It's all about designing a unique result, with a defined beginning and end in time, therefore with defined scope and resources. Like any undertaking, projects need to be performed and delivered under certain constraints. These constraints are scope, time and cost. These are also referred to as the "Project Management Triangle," where each side represents a constraint. One side of the triangle cannot be changed without affecting the others. There is a strong interdependent relationship between these factors.
Having mutually agreed project objectives is paramount. Systematically, we take one step at a time to ensure we achieve time and cost effectiveness. Many issues and discussion points during project planning, installation and commissioning will always have an impact on the triple constraints, and it is the ultimate responsibility of both project managers - at JENSEN and at the customer - to manage the triple constraints.
Based on existing best practice examples within JENSEN and state-of-the-art industry practices, a Phase Model with clearly defined key deliverables and supporting templates were developed. The model consists of four phases: Sales, resulting in a signed contract and an agreed layout, Planning & Ordering with confirmed specs and timeline, the Installation phase that ends with the successful start-up of the equipment, and finally the Commissioning phase that ends with the final handover.
The JENSEN Project Management Framework is structured into these four key phases with its goals and deliverables, and it does not matter if you build a laundry with JENSEN in Tucson, Toronto, or Timbuktu - the process will always be the same.
To automate this process, templates have been developed to properly document the key deliverables. Therefore, the four phases provide the overall structure for all our Turnkey Projects and represent the highest level of planning. The Goals of the Phase describe what has to be ultimately achieved in that particular phase in order to proceed to the next phase.
